December, 2004

Emily’s taking a well-deserved vacation this December, but in the meantime, we sat down with bestselling author Katie Maxwell to chat about her next series, which kicks off in January with GOT FANGS?.

Q: How many books are there going to be in this series?
A: I'm not sure. I have the first four books sketched out, but I anticipate it being an ongoing series, so I don't see an end in sight.

Q: Why do you call it the Goth series? Are there Goths in it?
A: A few, but the real reason I call it the Goth series is because the title of the first book originally was Goth a Go Go. It was changed to Got Fangs? Confessions of a Vampire's Girlfriend, but I still think of those books as the Goth books.

Q: Are there vampires in this series?
A: Yup. And demons, and magic, and lots of very cool strange stuff.

Q: Are these books connected to your adult vampire romances?
A: Very tenuously. The travelling fair that the main protagonist Francesca is travels with is GothFaire, which appeared in A Girl's Guide to Vampires. Also, Dark Ones (my version of vampires) are found in the world encompassed by this series.

Q: Is Emily going to appear in these books?
A: I doubt it, although I'm not willing to swear she won't ever appear!
